8-VA-CE-2.6 Design and create both additive and subtractive sculptures
1. Rewrite the standard in your own words. How does the assignment relate to the standard.
This assignment relates to the standard by showing additive and subtractive sculpturing. The assignment was to create useful and decretive pottery, which is similar to the assignment by using additive and subtractive technique to create the pottery for both useful and or decretive. For this specific project I mostly used additive sculpting, I added more and more clay to the sculpture until I achieved the round shape that I wanted. Subtractive sculpting was not a big part of my processes which shows that I mostly only added clay and did not take away much clay.

The steps i took to complete the assignment were many. First I had to remember old techniques and learn new techniques form Mrs.Khouls to be able to create the pottery. Second I began with a square shaped clay, Which I then had to press and mush. In the processes of pressing it together and mushing I created the shape of a circle. After I made my form I had to press on the clay in small sections to create details. I then painted it with the colors that I wanted and I let it dry.

Three I had a very good idea of what was the standard and why was it important for the assignment, because it helped us by giving us techniques on how to make the pottery and we had to decided on if we wanted it to be decretive or useful

I could have improved on this assignment by detailing it more and suing more colorful colors. I could have also used more of the subtractive technique for my own benefit. Also i could have been more creative and more artistic with the pottery and not make it very basic, because i made my pottery into more of a useful thing.

5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in the real world, as an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I can use these skills in the future when Im an adult because more likely I will have to do artistic project in high school and even in college. It taught me how to be patient and to pay more attention to detail.
